Nitro Burnin' Funny Daddy is Brian Setzer's new solo album. After releasin' several albums with his swing Orchestra, the man who's taken rockabilly alive returns to the trio format ( someone here remembers The Stary Cats???? =) Sixty Years starts the album in a great way. The man knows how to rock you in the old manner. His playin' is groovy as always, and he's a guitar hero. He's just sooo diffrent from all the others guitar god out there (thanx God for it!!!). Don't Trust A Woman(in a black cadillac) could be a great soundtrack tune for a movie on the road. Just think of a Cadillac ridin' along the States at full speed, followed by 30 cop cars. That's the picture =) I think it's also a pretty good advice too ;P When The Bells Don't Chime has a banjo openin' (there's also a 'banjo mix' version at the end of the album) and is a happy country tune. I just love the man, it's soooo perfect when you're bored with all the music that's around today... Brian can also shred on the banjo, that's sure. Great country solo. Yeah Brian! That Someone Just Ain't You is a moody ballad. So you needed the perfect love song to dance with yer woman? Look, this is the one. And you can also enjoy the solo in the meantime. Rat Pack Boogie is a country-rock instrumental. Ring, Ring, Ring features a virtuoso whammy bar openin'. I think that's pretty difficoult to play it properly. Another extra cool solo. This makes me wanna grab my guitar and play some rockabilly/surf guitar. Drink Whiskey And Shut Up is a bluesy song. Well, the title says it all. Smokin' 'N Burnin' continues to drive us and to make us shake our ass. If you loved Chuck Berry and all the Elvis stuff, I think this album is for ya all. If you didn't, this album will make you change your mind. I listen mostly to rock and hard rock, and I find this kind of album very entertaining and inspirational. Wild Wind is a song by Terry Gilkyson and would be another great soundtrack tune. A perfect western movie song. Ride that horse all along the canyon... St. Jude is another ballad, very moody and ideal to vary a bit the songlist. There's a new world to explore here for rock guitarists when speakin' about arrangements and rhythm guitar. To Be Loved (Forever) is a song by the Pentagons... Great, nothin' more to add. Good job on vocals too, Mr. Setzer. |
