About Time... is Steve Trovato's debut album. Steve has playes every style over the years, masterin' them all. He's written also a s#@tload of instructional methods. Let's see why he's called 'the great chameleon'...

D.G.'s Boogie opens the record with a pure country-boogie. Trovato shows a great phrasing. He doesn't play flashy tricks to impress you, he just plays great guitar, fully enjoyable and soo easy to love.
Knock, knock, knock is a jazz track with vocals too. Also in this track Steve sounds so damn convincin'... He just doesn't put a 'jazzy' feel into this track, he plays true jazz!
Dark Eyes is my favourite track. Gipsy jazz à la Django. Absolutely Great! Violins too, that's obvious!!! =) Haw, how he swings...
Small Things Remembered is a ballad, touchy and loaded with feel. Seems like there's not a lame moment in this album.
Squawkin' is another country number. Grab yer cowboy hat and start shakin' yer @ss! Perfect solos. Steve also finds the best sound for every song he plays.
Somewhere Over The Rainbow finds Trovato wearin' his jazz shoes once again. An arrangement of the ultrafamous composition by Harold Arlen. But after a quiet and soft beginnin', be prepared for a reggae interpretation of it... =o
Drowning In My Own Tears (by Ray Charles) features a R&B, soulful Trovato. Another pearl for a great album. Bluesy fills and solo so you can understand what it takes to be a great well-rounded sixstringer.
Root Beer Rag : country-bluegrass again. Great walkin' bass lick. It's a Billy Joel song. Slide little interlude too.
Adagio for Strings is an arrangement with an e-bow and a guitar synth. I've always wanted one of those GR-30, now I want it even more! I wander if Steve played the vibrato in the classical way (along the lenght of the fretboard)...

An almost perfect album, with Trovato showin' complete mastery of every style.
Good sounds, good arrangements, good phrasin'... Only regret is for the fact that Steve played almost covers.
Yes, he's reinventin' them, but we would have liked to hear some more personal composition from such a musician. However, a must buy. There's plenty to learn from 'About Time...'.
